Headshot Services Information

Pre session

Prior to your session, I will consult with you to determine style, location, mood, etc. Your photoshoot is customized to you and your needs and preferences. I will provide you with a questionnaire to start which will help get an idea for who you are and what you need. We will then have a conversation to discuss in detail. I want to learn about who you are, and what your goals for the headshot are.

Location

Once we decide on a theme, style and mood for the photoshoot a location will be chosen. I work with several studios in the Chicago area in order to provide a location that matches your needs. Weather permitting, we can also shoot outdoors taking advantage of the many beautiful sites in and around Chicago.

Hair / Makeup

I partner with licensed and professional hair and makeup artists to provide you the look that you desire. These services are optional and provided at additional cost for the artist(s) work.

Session Time

A standard photoshoot will consist of two hours with an average of 2 to 3 looks / wardrobe changes. Additional time can be provided for an additional cost.

For corporate team headshots, I will arrive a a pre-determined time prior to the session to setup. Session time will be based on the number of headshots needed, and will be discussed during consultation.

Digital Images

I do not charge a session fee then try to upsell digital images. I believe in making packages as simple as possible, and frankly while I’m a lovely person, I don’t think you are hiring me to pay for our time together. My product provided to you is the photographs that I make from our session. Headshot services will include 10 retouched digital images. Prints and other services such as a comp card for modeling / acting are available as additional purchase options.

Digital Image Editing

I personally edit all digital images prior to sharing with you. The basic fee includes editing for color, exposure, and cropping.

For an additional fee I provide professional retouching for each image as well. My approach to retouching is to fix blemishes, provide contouring to enhance make up if needed, but I do not modify body shape or remove earned life marks such as stretch marks, scars, birth marks, etc. My #1 goal is to help you feel beautiful as you are. I personally edit all basic edit files. Retouching purchased at time of scheduling will also be performed by me. Retouching upgrades purchased at delivery time may be outsourced with my supervision.

Digital Image Delivery

Digital images will be provided in a private gallery available only to you. You will have the ability to order prints at this time.

For sessions under 10 people, digital mages will be provided within 2 weeks after photoshoot.

Headshot Tips

1. Understand the Purpose of Your Headshot

Corporate: Opt for classic and professional attire.

Creative: You can afford to be more expressive and unique.

Personal Branding: Choose outfits that reflect your personal brand's colors and style.

2. Color Choices

Solid Colors: Choose solid colors that complement your skin tone. Avoid neons or overly bright colors that can distract from your face.

Neutrals: Neutrals are always safe and professional. Blacks, whites, grays, and navy blues are excellent choices.

Avoid Busy Patterns: Busy patterns can be distracting. If you prefer patterns, opt for subtle ones.

3. Fit and Comfort

Well-fitted Clothes: Ensure your outfit fits well; neither too tight nor too loose. Tailored clothing can significantly enhance your appearance.

Comfort is Key: If you're uncomfortable, it will show. Wear something that makes you feel confident and at ease.

4. Necklines and Jewelry

Flattering Necklines: Choose a neckline that flatters your face and neck. V-necks can elongate the neck, while crew necks and collared shirts offer a more traditional look.

Minimal Jewelry: Keep jewelry simple and minimal. A small necklace or stud earrings can add a nice touch without being distracting.

5. Layers and Textures

Add Interest with Layers: A blazer or a cardigan can add texture and depth to your outfit.

Textures: Incorporate different textures for a more dynamic look, but keep them subtle to avoid overpowering the photo.

6. Grooming

Hair: Choose a hairstyle that you feel comfortable with and ensures your hair is well-groomed.

Makeup: Aim for natural-looking makeup. The goal is to enhance your features subtly.

Please avoid long or thick artificial eyelashes. Your lashes should not distract attention from your eyes.

7. Glasses

If you regularly wear glasses, wear them in your headshot. I'll Ensure there's no glare on the lenses.

8. Final Tips

Prepare Your Outfit in Advance: Ensure your clothing is clean and wrinkle-free.
